The reverse side of the upper image - P & A Campbell Limited - The on-board menu for 1934 aboard the 'Cardiff Queen'. Seems pricey to me - breakfast at 1s-6d (7.5p) - it is simply scandalous profiteering! Back to the bar it is for breakfast then; another pint of Guinness and a packet of Smith's crisps please steward! (back in the days when the salt was contained separately within a small blue twisted greaseproof-paper wrapper inside the pack). You had to be much smarter in those days to open the crisp packet, untwist and sprinkle the salt evenly whilst holding your pint in the other hand and without spilling a single drop! [001]

'Cardiff Queen' sadly aground on the mud
'Cardiff Queen' sadly aground on the mud; location and date not known. This photograph was kindly forwarded to me by an admirer of the Penarth Dock website so I trust I haven't inadvertently infringed someone's copyright. [000] [002]

'Cardiff Queen' at Newport
P.S. 'Cardiff Queen' with an unidentified Rea Towing Co. tug nearby moored up at the floating landing stage named the Davis Wharf at Newport. Above, the wonderfully impressive structure of the Newport Transporter Bridge, opened in 1906, which took four years to build. The towers are 645 feet (196.6 m) apart and the overall height above the roadway is 242 feet (73.8 m). [530]
